Thank You

To all of our American Heroes, past and present,

Growing up in the 80s and 90s, I did not have much of an understanding of our military for two reasons 1) the only people I knew who served in the military were my grandfathers and 2) our country had not been at war since Vietnam. Then September 11th happened, my appreciation for our country, our history and how fast we ALL came together to unite as one nation was a moving experience. From that point on, I developed an admiration for those who have served and continue to serve our nation, keeping us safe and out of harm’s way. That admiration has led to the launch of this campaign, I have felt for a long time the need to serve in some way, therefore this is how I feel I can serve you, as you have served and continue to serve our nation.

The mission of “Selfie With A Soldier” started out as a way to celebrate the men and woman of our military and those who have served in years past. However, what has happened since the launch of this campaign has been more than I could have ever imagined. In an effort to do this right and serve those who are in need and provide resources to those who are returning from service, I wanted to be educated on how it works. I have met with over 100 members of the military, those who are serving and those who have served. My experiences and conversations have caused my interest in this campaign to go from one in which I wanted to celebrate who you are, to one that’s far more personal to me.

The men and woman I have met with have provided more perspective than one could imagine. I have met with those who are still serving to Veterans from all generations (take advantage of the time we still have with those who served in World War II, they are a treasure and are becoming more and more rare as they age). I have met with those who are serving in different branches and those who have served our nation at various ranks including Privates, Sergeants, Special Forces, Generals, Admirals and virtually all of them have had one thing in common, a desire to serve our nation and to protect every one of us who has the honor and privilege to live in the United State of America!

We will hit our 5 Objectives, it is the least I can do to show my appreciation to everyone of you who has served our nation and to those who continue to. God Bless you all!

My deepest admiration to you all,

Gary Baker
